From Mrs Alice D. Cunningham

Sept. 13 '18

Dear Laurie

I received a telegram yesterday saying that you had been wounded in right hand.

I thank God that it is not worse, I have prayed that if it was God's will. you would not be wounded in the head or taken prisoner.

I wonder if Pete Campbell is with you The telegram said he was wounded in the neck I am sitting at the table in Kate's kitchen I came yesterday to help while they are threshing

I spent three days at Clive's Leah was not very well there Wed. Alice took Kate Mrs Myers & I over to Cook's to Red Cross meeting. I was elected President & Alice Secretary & Treasurer.

Alice sent away five Christmas stockings for the hospital today they cost over eleven dollars. we filled them over at Mrs Wright's yesterday Today Alice came to Hazenmore from there to Ameroid then to Vanguard Jack horne and went back to Hazenmore again Kathleen & Francis was with her. so you see what a difference the car makes in what one can do I think they will be nearly done with the threshing here tomorrow night.

I received a letter from B. Trotter yesterday he wanted me to tell him if it would be convenient for him to come to see us. I think he can come next week as we may be threshing the next week.

You know dear how I would like to go to see you but I just feel glad that it is only you hand but I have been thinking you will not be able to write until you learn to write with you left hand. Well some one will write for you. And we will be glad to hear from you through anyone that is kind enough to write. I hope you will be home before many months.

All the rest are in bed I must go to I will write longer letters when I get home.

I pray that the Lord will bless & comfort you always. I can see you talking to the wounded in the hospital and trying to cheer them. It is such a relief to know that you are away from that battlefield. Good night dear Laurie

with love  Mother
