Dear Mother:–

On Tuesday night I was saying to one of the lads in the canteen won't the boys jump and holler when they see the Germans coming over with the white flag and on yesterday P.M. they came across so if they do not except the armistice terms we will beat them so badly in the next few months that they will beg for mercy you can't hold a bunch of those foreigners together when they get a notion the gig is up, so the present goverment had better sign the 14 terms and get the best out of this that she can, if she don't except now she has my sympathy, for all time to come.

I did not get any mail today either it is mean to have your mail tied up like that for I know I have mail over here some place this side of the Mile End Hosp. I guess it will follow me to Canada when I won't care if I get any mail or not.

The sun shines nice again we are getting nice fall weather clear and cold, but not so very cold at that,

8th    1.30 A.M.

Dear Mother:–

I just come up from the pack store where I got my change of underwear for the week. I am going down town to the m.y.c.a.[sic] to get a bath this P.M. the water is not warm enough in this building for when there is any more comfortable bath I am going to try to have it.

Alot more boys came in last night so our boat load grows but say I am mad at my mail I got two letters from Epsom today that went there instead of coming to Buxton then were sent to the Record office from there, then after looking up my address they send the letters enclosed in official envelope to me here which is fine but very slow,

One letter was from McKeith the other from Mrs Reedman Arthur was killed on Sept. 27th is it not a terrible shame, what sorrow this old war creates,

I started to take a daily class in electricity yesterday it is very interesting and may prove beneficial in time the Professor seems very good. Just an hour each day. then I have a book I can read an hour or so on the same Subjects.

Well bye bye Mother dear as ever your loving son
Laurie

P. S. The bugle is just calling us to dinner.

Dear Mother:–

I wrote a letter to Mrs Reedman this a.m. besides getting cleaned up and reading

The news are fine the war will be over by Monday I think what a releaf it will be to think fighting has seased and the boys will be able to get comfortable billets when they do not have to live in trenches and keep all movement down.

I think demobilisation will comence at once, I beleave that the Armistice will be such as will enable us to do that to a big extent. I wonder if the signing of the Armistice will cause much excitement on the street I hope to be around to see any way.

I am going to walk out for a while this P.M. I was thru the big Liner building yesterday the clock is run by electricity and is 25 feet across the front each hand is 14 ft long the minuite hand 3 ft across at the largest part. I was 396 ft high the sight is good up that high. You can see the Mersey go out to sea and then an other big river over farther I do not remember the name a horse away down the street looks like the size of a flie
