Somewhere in France

Dear Mother:–

I spent a good day out with a bombing Sergt. who has spent 21 months in France and who enlisted to see if there was any bottom or true manhood among men and he says since he has lived and fought among men in the trenches he has changed his opinion of man and now he feels that there is men as true as steel, On the other hand his people are staunch forn[sic] christians, and he has studied up the spiritualism, maby you you think I didn’t enjoy talking to him and telling him of my saviour who can cleans and make a man knew.  he promised that he would get a testament and would except any new beleaf to his if he could see where it was better than his so now to pray that God will give him light is my part and I beleave that he will get this light Christ says if I be lifted up I will draw all men onto me Oh I do love my Saviour who has done so much for me. It is funny how he and I should be thrown to gether to day on an 8 mile strole we had dinner to gether I bot it cocoa for me a bole 3 eggs for each two great big slices of bread each and he had two cups of tea, all for 78¢ the eggs were fine, I told an ex. segt to night in our tent what the christian life could do for his immorality while away from his home if he only would except it I sleep between Bob Banks and Burns each night 14 of use in a tent so we are close to-gether. I am gaining more interest in the word of God each day My what [in margin] people are missing that they don’t take God at his word bye bye Laurie I played a game of pingpong tonight
