Dear Mother:–

We had church parade this A.M. on the hill side. I guess the talk was good, Then a kit inspection. I do not know if we will have a parade this P.M. or not,

Yesterday A.M. we had our S.B. class, In the P.M. a good extended order drill I will call it. We were in a nice valley the grass was high the bunches of bushes nice, where we turned to come back I had a good sleep in an old shell hole, in the sun. I carried a stretcher home Reedman carried it out, It has turned out cloudy today and cooler, I only wear an outside shirt with short sleeves and the shorts that we had lost, well realy I havent the shorts but light drawers off above my knees, I think we will get the shorts any bath now, I am staying in to sleep cool again this spring. I like to wake up cool and fresh in the A.M. with my skin solid. It makes you feel like getting up when called and moving around brisk for a while. Running down to the creek and having a wash in the chilly water.

Every thing is running along smooth these days and every little activity.

I got a letter from Ted last night I wonder when he will have to enlist, It won't be bad for him, if his ankle bothers him he will get a better job, so I think the man that has a hole in him is the one that is lucky. I could not hurt myself if I trie,. I have never reported sick in France and a little slip and bump on my ankle is the worst hurt I have ever had yet,

Don't worry about the boy at all and never think about my place I don't care two straws about it, if I come thru the war I am lucky to have it, if I don't why my estate will amount to a little to you. I beleave if Teddy comes thru it will make a better man of him any of the hard things about it won't hurt him, I guess. I would just like to meet him in the uniform coming home after two years service just the same manly boy as I left only bigger and stronger, His influence will help other boys do better than they would.

27th just before noon

We had a good bath this A.M, but we did not get our shorts so I did put the long drawers in my pack until next bath day.

I went out and read and wrote last night. We had a good talk and study of John 18. Mother what is your idea about life eternal will those who are chosen and excepted by there Saviour on that great day of judgement, know each other there as we are on earth a mother son and sister or will we all be, mothers sisters brothers together, I havent got any decision on this my self but wont be satisfied now untill I do I will study it out and ask others at every chance.

Well bye bye as ever your loving son
Laurie
