Somewhere in France

Dear Teddy:–

As I marched along on Monday morning pretty heavily loaded down, I was just pondering how thankfull I was that I had not let you come and take what ever the army life might have dealt out to you. we may have eight days more be fore we go on up the line to the battle front. the review we are getting is fine, and I am going to be able to do what ever comes each day all right, I have yet got to find where there is a hole in me when it comes to a physical test and I can eat any thing that ever was entended for a man to digest, we have cold ham for breakfast and the boys often throw up half of theirs that is fat well I just grab it and can handle it and relish it to, so I will never starve, I havent a flaw in any of my teeth so they can give me all the army biscuits they want to. Teddy there is other boys here your age but I can’t feel that it is right at all a boy should be let grow to his manhood before he has to face cold lead in the way the soldiers have now,        But Teddy all we can do it trust in God thru it all and praise him that we are his sons thru the blood of Jesus.

I may not get a chance to write you again for a long time because I want to write to Mother each chance I have from now on.

we have had no rain since I have been in France, It is very sandy in this camp I sleep as comfy as I ever did. we are just getting used to this life step by step and each change suits me as well as the last one,

There is one thing I would like to come back for and that is to tell you more about this life and country as I see it. I can’t tell you in letters so you can see it as it is.

Well bye. bye. my dear little pal and may God bless you every moment of your life so that you may help others the way you helped me,

as ever your loving brother
Laurie
