Dear Teddy:–

Well old boy, I surely wish I could say things in this letter that would help you along in your future life, but my old pal, I am far from having that ability no matter how I feel I need it. If I could just express my truest convictions so you could understand me. I have faith that you would remember and benefit by them, but see Ted to put it blunt. if you and I went out to hall hay and you built the load, we had a good 8 x 14 rack Horace's big team and a ton of hay to land any place you wanted it, well in building the load if you took good care to build the sides and ends the center would take care of its self, don't you think so? we could get on the ton couldent we, the team would do the rest, Well now I don't care two bits about that old team cashing in, I don't care any more about one hundred or a thousand dollars, but I surely do care about what kind of character you have when you are my age and older. And I care to the extent that I am here tonight. So just remember that whatever happens in the next few months to throw you out, up against the world that if you do not neglect your christian life you will all ways be the happy boy the boy who is content with what ever conditions he is up against. Who will not complain at every little thing, who can prove the gentleman under all circumstances, who can look each man in the face because of of a big true heart, and with out a doubt you will be led to help manys the man that other men are ready to kick.

Every boy should call a hault each week and take time to size him self up and see if he is going the way God would like to have him go or not. look up Philippeans 4-8-8 and see if the things mentioned there are the things that occupy your brain and heart each day. work to crowd out any thing undesired to put in these thoughts paul leaves with us I have got a great lesson out of that verse,

Well I will have to change the subject remember that no one could shake my faith in you.

I would surely like to see the horses as you describe them but that is out of the question so I will set that thought aside for now,

I did not expect the old team to live for ever, of coarse I haden't thought they would die just because I knew they might, but I had never heard they were dead. Ginger well paid for her self and I guess some will say that I am to blame that Fred did not do much work.

Now don't loose any chance's to sell out the horses for a few dollars I am leaving it all to you, I will be satisfied if you are or if you are not, The war is a loosing game for all nations concerened so it is only reasonable that it should be for a few of us homesteaders, no one can take what ever he gets with a better smile than I can.

Well old boy good luck to you any way no one knows what may turn up to change things yet so we will leave things at that

bye bye your loving brother
Laurie

P.S. The thing I wanted to say but see I missed was this if a boy does not neglect his christian life the other side of life will look after its self, but the prosperity of the worldly man is undesirable at its best. Laurie
