Dear Mother:–

We moved out of bittels[sic] under canvas which is better from a standpoint of sanatation,

I slept out in a small pasture where I wrote my last letter, last night it was such a nice night and a treat to get out of the hay barn.

I was out for a walk with a boy tonight named Hoy he was principal of a big school in Saskatoon but mother the boy is sadly going wrong, he has given his testomony at different times as a christian, but oh he don't know what that means, And he has got his efficiency sized up to such a degree that others can't toutch him at all, this don't suit the other boys so he don't have freinds he is very well built for the size but right about 125 and short. he can run and do things like that but the boy wants to tell you so much of his own efficiency in so many different ways that it tires you, Now if I could only put a boy like that right and give him self a picture of his self as others see him think of how much value it would be to him self. I am thank full that I am often embarised at my own awkwardness and inability to do things right for when men see you like the poorest of them try to help you where if you think you can beat every one, when you fall down on it they never let slip the chance to rub it in.

I was grub orderly tonight fours of use issued the grub to 40 men every thing came off with out complaints, I am starting tomorrow on a machine gun coarse Lewis g. just a weeks coarse I leave here on Sunday next, but that is lucky any way over a month over here before action.

Well bye bye Mamma as ever your dearest boy Laurie, give my love to all and kiss little Francis for me. L.
